HAVANA POCKET GUIDE -matkaopas on koottu yli 20 vuotisen Havana kokemuksien perusteella. Siksi opas onkin syytä ottaa Havannaan & muualle Kuubaa suuntautuville matkoille mukaan. Siitä saattaa matkan aikana olla apua monessakin todella kiperässä tilanteessa.

Pyydä täydellinen (kuvitettu) Havannan matkaopas (10€ / pdf.-tiedosto) mukaasi, jonka turvin säästyt monelta ikävältä ja jopa satojen €:n menetyksiltä, mielipahalta matkan jälkeesi. Mikäli hankkimasi matkatuomiset kuubalaiset sikarit, vuosikerta -rommit, kahvi jne loppupelissä onkin väärennöksiä saattaa loman fiilikset mennä pilalle? Näitä (Fake) niin moni turisti kantaa matkatuomisinaan itselleen tai lahjaksi. Kannattaa miettiä aina.

Esipuhe: Foreword: It is hard to agree with those who keep telling us that cigar boom of the 1990´s is declining. Judging from the stunning production ficures of the cigar industry the market for premium cigars is expanding; and all the evidence speak for the fact that the number of demanding customers is growing as well. Every major city worth its place on the map has a well-furnished cigar shop or some of them household names among aficionados. Better restaurants and bars consider having a decent humidor a matter of self-respect and pride. And last but not least: it would be an odd bookstore not to offer a colourful selection of cigar books to its regular customers and occasional visitors.

Having read quite a few cigar books in quite a few languages makes it difficult for anyone to get involved in this particular branch of creative writing. It seems to be almost impossible to avoid the most commonly used pattern: a few puffs of history to start with, then, (to fill the first third) something about the growing of tobacco, the fermentation and the rolling of cigars; the second third has the instructions about how to handle and smoke a cigar, a few serious words about the blessings of a humidor and perhaps a warning against fakes; and the grand finale with appetising colour picture of cigars together with carefully chosen adjectives to describe their respective merit and shortcomings. Well, a nice and readable book, although lightly linear but where are the suprises?

This book is different. As Mr.Svahn and Mr.Izquierdo kept e mailing to me pages of they text chapter by chapter I grew increasingly fascinated by his style and the profundity of his approach.
And when Don Alejandro entered the text and started talking, one had the feeling of being moved from faraway Helsinki to a sunny porch in San Luis and listening to Don Alejandro himself speaking, a Vegas Robaina Churchill in his fingers, with complete authority, in minute detail, about his life and work. I can not help thinking that for this interview alone Mr Svahn and Mr Izquierdo´s book will occupy of a classic among the cigar literature.

While reading this book those of us who have never experienced the beauty of Cuba and its landscape understand how much we are missing, and the same feeling hits one when one reads about the personalities the writer has chosen to deepen our understanding of the Cuban culture of puros. Luckily we have the puro to connect and bonds us with both the cultury and its people. Olli Alho)

Brownin ylpeys "Mano Oro", käärijämestari Norma Fernandez on yksin käärinyt kyseiset Behike sikarit jotka sikarituotannon huippuyksilöitä. Kumpi näistä wiinien "bestsellereistä" on "parempi" niin mielestäni se on jokaisen oma makuasia, kuten sikarikirjat, on laatusikareiden seuraan sopivat viinit & avec -juomat jokaisen maisteltava itse, jotta voi niistä kertoa jotain.
